SOUTH JETTY RV PARK IN FLORENCE OREGON

June 16,2013

Today we arrived in  Florence, Oregon to spend the week here.  It is a pretty park but we had a very hard time getting satellite reception.  We moved to about 4 or 5 spots before we finally found one where we had to move the motorhome forward and back before we finally got reception.  YEAH!!!!!
The spot was really nice and grassy and we had a good place to take daisy for her walks.  No WIFI, we had to go to the clubhouse to use the computers.

OUR SPOT IN SO JETTY RV PARK IN FLORENCE OREGON

We drove to Eugene for the day.  On the way up there we stopped at a few covered bridges and then Ron wanted to stop and check out new motorhomes.  I really want one that has a fireplace in it.  Here are a couple of bridges we saw.  I love to look at them and I even drove over one.  Yeah me....  They were on the road to Eugene, Or from Florence Or.

TREES OF MYSTERY

JUNE 15, 2013

This day we drove down the highway to TREES OF MYSTERY and SKYTRAIL.  It is a cool place where they have gondolas that take you on a 9 minute ride through the redwood forest canopy to
Ted's Ridge.  There you find a large observation deck offering spectacular views of the Klamath back country to the east and stunning views over Hidden Beach and the Pacific ocean to the West.  It was very foggy this day so we couldn't see anything but the beautiful mist over all the redwoods.  It is home to many  extraordinary specimens of Coastal Redwoods, Sitka Spruce and Douglas Firs.  This area is home to one of the most majestic trees of all, the Cathedral Tree, nine living trees growing as one in a natural cathedral formation--it is awesome.  The Sky Trail gives you a chance to have a birds eye view of the redwoods as you glide through the forest canopy.  It is pretty cool

PAUL BUNYAN

The Trail of Tall Tales is devoted to the folklore of Paul Bunyan and his unique adventures depicted in giant redwood carvings done with a chainsaw.  There are so many trees carvings around here and I would love to have a small one.  They are amazing works of art.

Let me tell you a story about Edward.  I am a die hard Twilight fan and I love Edward.  OK I said it, there...Everyone know it and I am proud of it.  When I retired from work, my leaving party was everything Edward and Twilight.  They gave me this awesome cutout of him and I take him with me when I go places and take pictures of him and us.  hehe  I just had to throw this in because I had so many people say things to me and just smile when they saw him.  I love it.  It is a good conversation starter.  lol   So he went with us and rode the  Sky Trail, although he was very bored with it and just wanted to take off flying up the redwoods.  He was so at home here, he loved it.  Had a hard time taking him away from it.

REDWOOD HIGHWAY

This is the road we had going from Klamath, Ca to South Jetty, Or.  The highway was beautiful but scary.  These pictures try to capture the beauty and size of some of the redwoods along the highway.  It is truly one of God's beautiful creations.  The highway is busy and at times the redwoods go up and down in the valley forever.  They are massive.  Wish you had been with us so you could see the beauty.  If ever you get a chance to visit these please do it because you will not be disappointed.

SPIRIT OREGOS

Spirit Oregos liked people so she decided to be a huge rock at the mouth of the Klamath River.  Her job each year was to tell the fish when they should leave the ocean and head upriver.

And so, each year, Oregos guides the smelt and candlefish, upriver where the Yurok people net them.  They are so oil-rich that they can be burnt as a candle for light.

Then in the spring she sends up the cut-throat trout, in May the giant sturgeon, and in July she calls in Salmon, the delicious king salmon.  August is the steelhead run, followed by silver salmon.  Oregos, what a spiritual helper.

The Klamath river is the second largest river in California...263 miles long, draining a watershed of 8,000 square miles from it source in Upper Klamath Lake in South Central Oregon.

Ron and I followed a road one day to see where it would go and this is what we came across.  It is beautiful and so I wanted to share this with you and some pictures of what it is like.  Never miss the chance to go exploring because you could miss so many wonders of beauty.

KLAMATH RIVER RV PARK KLAMATH, CA

We arrived at our new park on June 9th and like I said it is beautiful  but we didn't have AT&T service so no phone.  Good think the park offered internet for a charge that helped.  I have pictures of the park I want to share with you.

This park is beautiful and the people that run it and work there are awesome.  Plus they have kites everywhere and they are so pretty.  I was going to get one, but forget to get it before we left.  If you are ever there, stay there a while and enjoy the beauty.
